Powerheart G5 Automated External Defibrillator

with No Comments

NARRA has installed at the Newlands Arm Community Centre, 25 Meridian Way, Newlands Arm entrance foyer an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Cabinet which has a portable Powerheart G5 AED device inside.

The Cabinet is alarmed, with a flashing strobe light and siren activated when the Cabinet door is opened.  The purpose of the alarm is to alert bystanders to the medical emergency and serve as a deterrent to theft or tampering of the AED.

We have also fitted a Three-Dimensional AED Sign at the entrance to the property (next to the NARRA letterbox) to alert of the availability of the AED device.

Initially, it was intended to install the AED Cabinet at the Newlands Arm General Store and signed consent was obtained from the owner, however, East Gippsland Shire Council would not allow the extension of NARRA’s public liability insurance cover unless it was installed within the Community Centre complex.

We greatly thank Brian MacNamara (a local builder), who as a kind gesture, fitted the AED cabinet and signage for our community.

Would you kindly alert your neighbours to the availability of the portable AED device.
