Australia Day @ Newlands Arm 2020

NARRA had a good attendance at its AUSTRALIA DAY @ Newlands Arm community day.

This year we had a focus on children’s activities organising sporting events, games and competitions.  Many children (and adults) participated in Bocce, Hookey, Quoits, other games including an Egg-and-Spoon Race.  We used un-boiled eggs in the Egg-and-Spoon Race and no-one actually broke an egg!

The only formal part of the day was a flag raising ceremony where the attendees sang our national anthem.

There were several competitions and the winners were:

Nick Aidonis, Winner of the Door Prize.  Prize: Grevillea Plant (Honey Gem).

Leonie Holl, Winner of the Mobility Walkers Competition.  Prize: Chocolates.

Taj Carroll – Ghost Buster, winner Children’s Fancy Dress (Favourite Hero).  Prize: Spinning Truck.

Kai Carroll – Pirate King, winner Children’s Fancy Dress (Favourite Character).  Prize: Wooden School Bus.

We are very grateful to the committee members, volunteers and residents who assisted with set-up, preparing the BBQ meals, making salads, judging events, etc. and we pass on a big thank you to them!

EVENT DETAILS:

Date: Sunday, 26th January 2020.

Time: 11:00am to 2:30pm (approximately).

Location: Newlands Arm Community Hall, 25 Meridian Way, Newlands Arm.

NARRA is hosting a number of festivities on Australia Day and all of the Newlands Arm community is invited.

There will be food (sausage sizzle, etc) and drinks and a number of children’s activities and games for all age groups and adults too!

There will be competitions on the day and prizes to be won:

  1. Children’s Fancy Dress Competition – come as your favourite hero or character.
  2. Mobility Walkers – Dress up your walker in Australia Day colours. Impress us!
  3. Door prize. Everyone who pre-registers will be entered in the prize.

To assist us with catering on the day (food and drinks will be provided by NARRA) we would appreciate your registration to the event, please RSVP by 14th January 2020.
