As the recently elected President of NARRA it is my wish to bring the community together in
a united manner. I have a vision of a group social partnership process whereby NARRA, NA
Landcare, Romawi Landcare, Mens Social Club and other groups all contribute to community
program and events, using their expertise as required. Sharing their best assets and
creating a super community in effect. I believe it is important that we unite to offer support
to residents who need assistance such as garden cleanup, transport to shopping facilities,
basic repairs and maintenance bringing together of community assets to give people the
help they need. All These activities need to be expanded, developed and grow. Programs
could include Health checks – Physical and Mental, social events, entertainment activities.
Successful community activities include the Landcare Car boot sale and the NARRA Garage
sale, have shown us what can be achieved. We recently saw the success that the Little Balls
food truck made to Friday night meals by drawing people down to Dawsons Cove and now
to the Community Centre for the cooler months.
Sports and facilities for kids, it is time that our community looks at what other options are
available to keep kids entertained. We have two great facilities, the Community Centre and
Dawsons Cove both with land a plenty. Long overdue are sporting facilities, this will become
a focus for this committee.
We need to focus on activities and occasions for all women, men and children across all age
groups.
I would like to acknowledge and thank Karen Neophytou for her dedication to the position
she held as Secretary, (at a most challenging time), Mal Baker as Treasurer and all members
of the previous committee.
Times are tough so the NEW NARRA will draw on the skills in the community to advocate for
long overdue facilities with the East Gippsland Shire.
Thank you to those who attended the very successful Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ and the
Mother’s day afternoon tea. Both achieving steps forward
I look forward to positive times ahead. I encourage residents to become involved and bring
ideas and requirements to the attention of the new NARRA.
