Grant funding update – AFL Goal Posts

Thanks to Dave Peters, Ian Williams, Terry Hickling and Greg Edgerton who helped with the installation of the AFL posts on the oval Simpsons Park. Also thanks to Andrew Kleinert who organised the help from the Men’s Social Club members. This was a community effort and a magnificent result for the community with many more to come. Don’t forget to have a look as you pass by the Community Centre. – Richard Gill (NARRA President)

Australia Day Celebrations in Newlands Arm

Newlands Arm Residents and Ratepayers Association (NARRA) hosted this year’s fantastic Australia Day event! Over 60 community members joined in the fun, enjoying a classic Aussie sausage sizzle and icy poles under the summer sun.

The day was filled with activities including the raising of the flag, singing the National Anthem, and a friendly game of cricket, ensuring fun for all ages.

We also celebrated a very special local hero: Helen Hall, who was recognised as the Newlands Arm Australian of the Year for her outstanding contributions to our community. Congratulations, Helen, and thank you for all your hard work and dedication!

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event a memorable one. We look forward to seeing you all next year!

Community Book Exchange

Our community book exchange (affectionately known as the Book Fridge) is now ready for readers, just in time for holiday reading by the water.
Thank you to Janine Honing for sourcing the second hand fridge which houses our book collection, in the porch of the community centre. We are also indebted to Grace Hall, a talented local 14 year old lass who kindly and beautifully decorated the fridge for the whole community to enjoy.
The fridge holds an interesting mix of fiction for any taste and a smaller range of non fiction titles as well as some children’s books.
Feel free to come and take, exchange or leave a book. We only ask that you leave interesting books in good condition and take care not to overload the racks.
Happy Reading.

Grant application update

2024 Community Bank Paynesville & District Sponsorship program

NEWLANDS ARM RESIDENTS AND RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION INC.
(NARRA) has been granted a sponsorship from The Bendigo Bank, Community Bank – Paynesville & District.

At the awards ceremony on 18th November 2024, Richard Gill and Roger Hawkins received the grant with excitement for our community.

Our application was based around the procurement of sporting equipment for our Kids at Simpson Park.

This grant will assist NARRA to begin the process of creating a sporting equipment inventory,
beginning with one set of AFL Posts and a full-size Soccer Goal to be installed at the Simpson Park “Oval”. Also known as the Community Hall Reserve.

Our future plans are with more grants, to incorporate a Basketball and Netball facility at Simpson park.

Development of Sports Facilities at Dawsons Cove is also desirable as we work with the council to achieve this.

Community Bank – Paynesville & District Sponsorship amount including GST is $5,500.00

You will see a sign at the Hall Entrance promoting the Bendigo Bank, Community Bank – Paynesville & District,
please support the bank just as NARRA does by banki
ng with it.
